I'm just glad that all the horses appeared to come thru the race unscathed. Â I have to watch through my fingers, I worry so much about the horses. Â Been too much sadness over the years.  |
Over the year's, another one had to be put down just yesterday. They're just plain and simply starting them to young. Â |
I hadn't heard about one being put down yesterday. I knew one had been scratched earlier this week, and one this morning, but I didn't hear them say anything about one being put down. Last year with Eight Bells darn near killed me, I still can't get the picture of her lying on the track out of my head. And Barbaro... 
Santa Anita spent eleventy gazillion dollars on a new track that was supposed to be safer for the horses...and couldn't even use it because they didn't install a drainage system.  Small wonder they went bankrupt.

No drainage plus the new dirt was a slip'n slide.

And if they'd quit feeding them drugs, that might help some too!...
