TV pitchman Billy Mays found dead at home From the Associated Press
9:11 AM PDT, June 28, 2009
Tampa police say Billy Mays, the television pitchman known for his boisterous hawking of products such as Orange Glo and OxiClean, has died. He was 50.
Authorities say Mays was pronounced dead this morning after being found by his wife at home. There were no signs of a break-in, and investigators do not suspect foul play. The coroner's office expects to have an autopsy done by Monday afternoon.
Mays' wife, Deborah Mays, says the family doesn't expect to make any public statements and asked for privacy.
Mays was also featured on the reality TV show "Pitchmen" on the Discovery Channel, which followed Mays and Anthony Sullivan in their marketing jobs.

Dont' see how he could have hit his head that hard unless he wasn't buckled in... |
They Say That Things Fell On Him.... |
I saw his interview, he was pretty vague as to what the "thing" was, but others said it was a portion of the panels on bottom side of the overhead bins. Still wouldn't think that would do that much damage, sure hope not. Also heard reports that he didn't have his seatbelt on. While I certainly don't wish them dead, I have NO sympathy for those who fail to follow regulations. I got stuck in a very dangerous runway situation when some a-hole on one of my flights took his seatbelt off. Finally the pilot just said screw it, better to risk only one life than an entire plane load and he got us to a safe area. We thought for sure the guy was gonna go postal, he was mouthing off and swearing.
Kelly said that pilot (of billy's flight) is gonna have some 'splaining to do...

It's not always how hard you hit but where, could have been a tender spot and something ready to pop at the slightest tap!..

Much was made of Billy Mays' rough landing the day before he died. But according to a Florida medical examiner, the TV pitchman's death was unrelated to the airplane mishap.
"The autopsy found no external or internal head trauma," says Hillsborough County Associate Medical Examiner Dr. Leszek Chrostowski, who conducted the exam Monday. Chrostowski also ruled out a blood clot as the cause of death.
Instead, the coroner's preliminary report suggests that the 50-year-old OxiClean hawker died Sunday of heart disease.
Initial speculation had centered on the head trauma/blood clot theory because Mays was on a U.S. Airways plane that blew a tire upon landing in Tampa. He joked to a local TV station about suitcases falling on his head.
Although Mays had no history of drug abuse (he had prescription painkillers for a hip problem), Chrostowski will still perform toxicology tests per standard procedure. The results won't be know for eight to 10 weeks.
A funeral for Mays is set for Friday in suburban Pittsburgh, where he grew up.
