Quote (GlassMan @ July 08 2009,8:07 am) | Have you ever tried one of those Netbooks?
I wasn't very impressed with the first one I tried a while back, but, my granddaughter got one for her birthday over the weekend and it's pretty darn good. Â
They sure have improved in a short time frame. For under $300 it's not a bad buy either. Â |
Thought about it a while back, but all I read was negative stuff about it so I never bothered with it!..

Quote (BigBoyToys @ July 09 2009,7:10 am) | Â I honestly think that the reason that there are so many Bugs in the MS Os's is so MS can keep selling their next versions. Â Just think how much less $ Microsoft would make if they actually came out with a good product that wouldn't have to be constantly upgraded...For a fee of course |
I've always maintained that, no reason why they can't make an OS that's free of bugs!... You ever try Ubuntu???, I read good stuff about it all the time, and it's free!..

Quote (BigBoyToys @ July 09 2009,7:15 am) | Gotta love the opensource.org website. Â More importantly, the Open Office Package that you can get there for FREE that allows you to read, write, save, etc EVERYTHING that is in the MS Office Package. Â I install Open Office on EVERY PC and Laptop that I sell unless the customer wants to pay MS for their Office Program.
Can't wait to see the new Chrome OS and how it interacts with current MS products. Â I'll try to get an advanced copy of it.....
I have been using the Chrome Browser exclusively since it was released. Â There are a few websites out there that still won't work though because it requires certain Plug-ins that are only available for Internet Explorer, but I can deal with that. |
I put Open Office on one of my machines, and it came on my lap top, it works great no problems with MS files!..

Looks like the pre release beta edition will be available this fall. Google has published a FAQ on its Chrome OS project. It contains the minimum number of questions and answers necessary to qualify as a Frequently Asked Questions list–two. We now know that Chrome OS will be free (it would have been startling if it wasn’t). And we know that Google is working with Acer, Adobe, Asus, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, and Texas Instruments. Presumably Acer, Asus, HP, and Lenovo will make Chrome OS netbooks; Adobe will make stuff like Acrobat, AIR, and Flash happen; and Freescale, Qualcomm, and TI will collaborate with Google on chip support. The big news here is the lineup of major computer manufacturers who are on board. That doesn’t guarantee anything–Google’s Android mobile OS has been embraced by multiple major phone companies, and it’s still getting off to a somewhat slow start–but it’s still impressive. And given that it’ll be a year at the soonest before any Chrome OS netbooks show up, it’s entirely possible that other manufacturers will hop on board before launch.
