I learned to drove in the folks car as well, BUT we also had drivers ED in high school. I drove more there then in the folks car. I don't remember my dad going with me. It was always my mom. Like Glen said. We were not allowed to drive the folks cars, and don't ask to.

Mine was a 1956 Belair, I bought and paid for it, 327 dual quads, Â divorced Parents, didn't really know what I had bought. I walked a lot of places.
The joke was it was the fastest car in the valley  A quarter mile at a time.
I'm lucky I didn't die in that car...
With the kid, only time will tell?? I take him driving every chance he gets, The clutch is working him some, but he rides dirt bikes, so he knows the concept. Chores and homework complete of course.
And every dirty job around the house???? he has no problem doing, but he always wants to negotiate a price..
Right now, he's working for free.

Anywhere we went I had to drive, and it was always with my dad because my mom wouldn't go..

Well, he put 1 1/2 days into little stuff, Got it raised up about 2". Also adjusted the preload, checked brakes.
It has side skirts that really don't belong on the American cars. So there are no body fasteners???? So it is self tappers on the underside, and 3M VHB tape along the edge. It looks like that's what the last guy used, but I think the tape was suspect, and maybe so was the prep. they seemed to come off quite easy.
He ordered a power steering return line that is leaking, and rear upper camber adjusters, and a better than stock, but not solid trans mount.
And so far both of our patients has been good.
