Quote (stingray @ Sep. 30 2008,10:05 pm) | Questions start with, how crazy do I want to get. What really needs to be done, and what can pass. This type of project is new to me. Â |
Heck I'll buy it for $200!.. " how crazy do I want to get" there's the key right there, gotta answer that question first!.... Right now it's a 50mph ski boat period, that's how it was built, if that's all you want then it shouldn't take too much to get it going, unless the hull itself needs attention, like delam in the floors, stringer rot, etc, that can lead to $$$$$$$if you can't do that yourself???... Now if you want a hot rod, you're looking at a huge project and a bunch of money because it means starting over completely!. BTW, what does it have for a v-drive????.. Got any more pics!...

Well it is a project, main thing is the hull and the glass work, the pics don't show that??.. The V-Drive is an old Aeromarine Thouroghbred and they been out of business since the 70's, and they are "super noisy" with the straight cut gears, but it is a decent piece!.. And you don't want to be going 75 the way it's setup unless you want to end up on your a$$!..

If this isn't it what do I need to be looking for? |
If you're looking for a hot rod look for an old race boat even if it's a project, at least it will have the right hardware and be setup for speed, it will save you a HUGE amount of money, time and frustration!.. But for a 50-60mph ski boat, this one would make a cool project at a reasonable cost, but even then it all depends on how far you want to take it on the cool factor!... I cut the line at 65mph, after that it becomes a whole different world and there is no cutting corners on anything anymore, been there done that, and it ain't good!...
