Welcome to Doug's place!... This is a subject that has been beaten into the ground a 100 time across the internet, and at the end it usually ends up every oil is junk and every oil is the best!. :laugh It's all a matter of preference, if you been having good success with the Merc then I would just keep using it!. What you might do though is do a search and see who makes it and it's equivalent on the shelf, may be able to get it cheaper???.. :stupid

I agree. If you know which oil has been used all along, I'd stick with it.

Welcome to Doug's.  :good

I tired many brands, never had problems with any. I think keeping clean oil is key.

That didn't do it :drama Besides the sump is at the back and it would be better tilted. Double checked the hose length its 6 inches or so longer than the dipstick. The pump is kinda old it may be worn out but it seems to do pretty good with 3/8 hose but the 1/4 inch may be to much restriction. I may try warming the engine up to thin the oil next.  :flamed

I use Royal Purple in my little race car. Oil cooled GSXR turning 12K+ RPM. Gets changed after every race. You don't need it and it costs a bunch. The biggest problem with any oil is it getting contaminated not breaking down. Again, keeping clean oil in it is key. :good

Many parts house brand oil is Valvoline...

I buy it at Car-Quest, but I noticed Parts Plus oil is Ashland Oil as well.

Royal Purple is good but it's a racing oil and expensive, you don't need it!.. The key is to keep clean oil in it regardless of the brand, and if it sits all winter change it in the spring, oil breaks down over time, cheapest maintenance there is to keep an engine last is to keep clean fresh oil in it!.. :good
