Thought I'd dust this section off and post up a fun/cool story:
I was covering the phones  at the boat shop a few weeks ago and got a call from a gentleman that wants to order a new boat cover, a snap boat cover.  He lives on the water in Lake Arrowhead and his 1989 Eliminator Tahoe floats in his slip all summer (dry storage in the winter).
I get him a price and he says that the old cover's pretty shot and he has some water damage on the floor; no problem, easily replaced and let's re-do all the carpet while we have it apart. Â He doesn't want to put a lot of $$ into the repair as the boat gets little use these days; they are retired up there.
I start taking his info and his name "rings a bell"... Â I make a connection between his name and location; turns out to be a co-worker when I was a Food Broker back in the 90's... Â We small talk and his story continues...
Earlier this season he was out in the boat with his grandkids skiing and up in the open bow he sees the seat base lift up...yep, two RACOONS poke thier heads out... Â Guess they didn't like the rough conditions... Â
He said the racoons are a common problem up there...they get under a regular cover and make a home for themselves, especially if the boat is not used much... Â The best defense (marina advice) is a snap cover around the interior area.
He brought the boat in this week and it's in pretty decent condition for it's age, but the outside and drive show the wear of being on the water for some 20 years...still floats and runs, so he's good with that, for now.
Here's some pix after we tore into it:
Everything stripped out and damaged floor removed:
Wood's in decent shape...stringers do have some water penetration, but not damaged:
Original interior was not torn up by them intruders, vinyl was very good, but the seat bases might need replacement:
I'll post up progress pix as we move along the re-do...the snap cover will follow the outside line of the open bow & cockpit...them varmints are gonna need some STRONG PAWS to get under this one... Â Â

We use a guy out of San Diego...call him up with the centerline and beam numbers, text him a few pix of the boat and he does the rest; comes up and fits 'em as needed...
