I think I figured out what killed the valve in my last adventure. I was cleaning the pistons on the original motor that I wiped the crank out in back in May and when I was putting the piston rings on the #1 piston something was keeping the top compression ring from seating correctly. Â After a closer look I saw that ring groove was smashed down a tad. I figured I had dropped it or something.
But I started looking at the top of the piston and son of a bitch if the valve hadn't been hitting the piston when the rod bearings went out on the 1 and 2 journal(remember they were pretty much non-existent when I pulled it apart). Not only had the valve been hitting, but the combustion chamber had some interference also. Â Â
So when I built the other short block(the .040 block) I took those heads off the first motor. Ended up putting right bank head on the left making the old #1 into the new #8 (the hole the intake valve failed in) and the intake valve had been banging the piston in the old motor and just decapitated its self.
What do ya think? Do I have a case here, can I sue the engine builder for damages  Â
