I'm going to replace the carpet in "Money for Nothing" this spring, and have a question.

How hard is it to put do a balsa parque floor (I believe that's what it's called).  Is it even possible in my kind of set up?

I'd like to get away from the glued in carpet, maybe a little that could be snapped down, but that stuff gets nasty pretty quick around here.

I had one boat with carpet never again, that's the nastiest shit!. :eek Not only that it hides cracks, not cool!.. If you can do glasswork it's easy just a lot of work. The worst part is getting that carpet and glue of the floor. Once you have the floor prepped, you resin the wood to the floor, then lay cloth and glass over it then you put the flow coat over it, that's what makes it shine!. But if you're not into glasswork(like me), I would take it to someone that knows what they are doing like I'm doing with mine, I'm just doing the prep work. But even if you have to have someone do it for ya, it's well worth it, it will also up the value of the boat!.. :good

I don't have to worry about pulling the carpet up, it's so rotten it just comes up.

Not knowing what I was doing has never stopped me before.  :rotflmao .  That and there is only a few people that do fiberglass work around here, and they don't like doing "custom" jobs as I would think this would be.

I assume the balsa comes in sheets???  Anybody know where I could get some of it?  I was planning on buying a little bit and playing around, just to see what it would take.

Yes you can buy it in sheets but you have to go to a "Lumber Yard" not a place like "Home Dump", they wouldn't know what you were talking about, you know like going to a parts store!.. :laugh

The old wood Maja's and Connelly's were bad ass. That style inlay would make a sweet lookin floor. I have a wood Connelly Hook that I want to restore for display.

GFR when you put a flow coat on a floor like that are they really slippery when wet?

Wood floors are badass no dought, I wish I could save mine but it would take a hell of a lot of work to do it right!. :eek

If you buff the floor so it really shines, it can be slippery if you're barefooted and wet!..
