They are right, they do make more power, just depends on the budget. If all you do is put good valves in then it would be cheaper but they really need to be cleaned up. Unless you do it yourself the cost would bring it up to about the same as the aftermarkets and still not be as good!. If the budget allows, I'd go for the aftermatkets myself, I'd stick with an iron head though!.

Anytime Steve! You will have it ready for Needles right?. BTW, remind me not to race ya, since I'm putting everything into the GN project, I'm not doing anything to that hunk of shit motor I got so I'll be the one running "37.5"mph!..

Quote (Beautiful Noise @ Jan. 12 2004,4:04 pm) | ART,I think i'm finally making some head way...............I'm going with the World Merlin 320 head's (Iron)119cc,Isky Z89 cam with 633 lift on the exhaust and Intake and a set of JE Piston's that should put me around 11.5-1 this should help me see 40mph I hope   |
Steve, good choice on the heads!. Personally and I mean pesonally, I wouldn't give a dime for that cam, I've used it before, in fact 3 of them after being wiped out on the break in!. especially with those heads you will not benefit from them with that cam, but that's up to you!.. Now the compression will depend on a few things. If the pistons are 11.5 to 1, check the paperwork and see what the specs are to achieve that compression, piston deck hight, chamber CC's, head gasket CC's and thickness. Since you're using the same block, it may have been cut at one time and you may have to juggle things around to get the desired compression!..Just wanted you to be aware of it!..Good luck!..

I've had this cam for 12 years, for a solid it's great it pulls like gangbusters from 3500 on up and it's easy on parts, I'm on my second set of springs only. But you need 12:5 to 1 though because of the overlap it bleeds of compression. With 12:5 to 1 I still ran a 50/50 mix and 36 lead with no problems whatsoever. Those heads you picked out need a cam with lift so they can benefit from thier flow capabilities!..

Yep Comp puts out some good stuff too but all will make custom grinds, just a matter of who you like to deal with!..
