Ok since your the gear head of the HD board I thought I'd ask you first. I have a 1983 sunray 18ft boat that has been in the family since it was bought new in 1983 by my grandfather. I now own the boat and can't figure out what type of engine is in it. It's either a Buick V6 3.8 litre or a Chevy V6 3.8 litre. But for years I was told that engine in the boat is a Buick. I just don't know. The block to me looks like a Chevy but then again the fuel pump on the block is mounted upside down. Here are some photos I took of it today. Please let me know. I need to get points for it and a little tune up.... Thanks....

Well I ain't into them things but I'll take a wild guess that it has the same timing cover, the Buick I threw away had the pump the same way, there's probably a spot on the top of the cover for the distributor, it just ain't been machined out!.. :stupid

Just take the fuel pump off and put an electric one on.  That will settle the Buick/Chevy thing :D  :laugh

Pull a valve cover, if it has shaft mounted rockers, it's a Buick.  :good

Can you see or feel little ears (there are two of them on BOP blocks) on the top of the block in the back where the bellhousing bolts up??

This is what he's talking about but so far it's been determined that it is a Chevy, so it shouldn't have this bolt pattern!.. :rolleyes
