Hi. Im new to this site. Maybe someone out there can help me. Last river trip going full throttle once I let off the gas my engine would stall out. It wouldn't start back up until I took off the air cleaner and opened up the secondarys while I turned it over and it fired right up. If anyone might know what the problem could be that would be lot's of help. 1993 carrera jet 454. Thanks in advance

I believe the carb is a quad. (bear with me I know very little when it comes to mechanics) And it's got a manual choke.

Maybe the choke is closing when you back off causing it to flood? :rolleyes Too much fuel pressure can cause the same thing also!.. :stupid

Mine did something like that and it was a flooding problem. The needles were sticking open in the carb. Ck your float levels and clean out the float bowls you might have some junk floating around in there causing the needles to stick open.

Hmmm, wonder what's wrong with the carb to begin with, didn't sound like much of a problem to me. That Holley won't be cheap if they put a new one on!. :eek

I guess with the engine cover it wont allow me to put on a holly or an edelbrock. The quadrajet I have on now I guess it's a $600 carb. So he just cleaned it out added some new floats did some other minor work and $400 later I got the old boat back. Now off to Laughlin. Lets hope no breakdowns this time.
