i was wondering if there are any tricks with putting the lower unit on. we had to replace the water pump in the lower unit and i have never done it before(  i own a 75 eliminator jet). any tips would help. i am trying to fix it for my dad. he can't do much, he has 4 fused vertabre. the problem we are having is the engaging of foward nuetral and reverse. please help.

If you can move the shifter but won't go into any gear, check your cable, it may have came off or the shift mechanism didn't get engaged when you put back together!.. :stupid
