I just ordered my Clay Smith (polished even) for the yellow boat as the one that's on there now can't keep up with the dominator.  The thing that gets me, I asked about a regulator and they said they use alot of those cheap ass Holley 12-803 jobbers.  Kind of scares me.  My other option would be to run a bypass, but I don't have anywhere to bypass the fuel back to.  That and it would end up looking like a plumbing nightmare.

As far as mechanical versus electric, I just look at it as one less electrical thing on the boat to worry about.  That, and if the boat isn't running, fuel isn't pumping.  ;)

Jordy that is the One I was going to get Clay Smith Polished Pump,I run the Holley Regulator on my Boat now so I'll just work it into the fuel line with the new Pump.
I have a Holley Blue Electric on it now,Its been on the Boat since 1976 except for acouple of rebuild kits its always worked great its the only electrial thing (besides the starter) that I have on the Boat :)

Mechanicals are much safer than electrics. As far as better I'd say according to application they both have their +'s and -'s  :fight

Steve, get rid of that chicken shit regulator they are wayyyy too restrictive. Since you have stack tanks run a bypass after the carbs back to the tank. With the mechanical pump and a bypass you'll have a complete efficient fuel system. In fact you may even get to run 40.1 mph!.. :D  :good  :jumpie

So the big brown truck stopped by today and dropped off my new piece of artwork fuel pump.  All I can say is bad ass.  Going to tear the old one off tomorrow and make a list of the plumbing I need to change around.  Get to play with fittings and steel braid.  My hands are hurting already.  :D

I'll get some pics and report some details as well.   :good

From the looks of this polished bad mombo jombo, I think my fueling issues should be solved.  My poor Holley just didn't have a chance.  It wouldn't even start running bad, it would just die.  Suck the fuel bowls completely dry.  Like this crew with a cooler of beer on a hot river day.   :beer  :rotflmao

Thanks for the offer Art, but this is really a simple deal, probably about a beers worth of work.  It's just a matter of changing out some fittings.  My old pump is 3/8" NPT to -8 in and out and the new one is 1/2" NPT so I have to get those fittings, and I think I'm going to just plumb the regulator right off the out side of the fuel pump so it's down low and out of sight.  So I'll need an NPT male to male for that.  I have a big drawer of fittings, so I need to look at the boat, figure out what I need versus what I have and go from there.  It ain't nothing but a thing.

I do have a couple fittings I need to replace on the cooling part of the boat as they're a little old and don't seal like they're supposed to anymore.  I have gone a week and a half without working on my boat though.  It's a start in the right direction.   :jumpie

Mine runs fine at half throttle setup the way it is.  Problem is, if I want to run at around 6K rpms, the pump that's on it won't keep up with the carb.

Oh, and KC, the problem is, mine runs for more than hours at a time before I decide to change it, not have to fix it.   :D  :rotflmao  :jumpie  :beer
