Is it worth the money for the family ski boat to bump up to 2.19 or 2.25 intakes and the 1.88 exhaust. I've got my heads from Ebay and they're getting ready to go in for a freshening up and I'm flip flopin :laugh  on going to the bigger valves. The heads are virgin 049's.

Seems like an awful lot of work for something that's only going to run for a couple hours anyway.  Ha ha ha ha ha.   :rotflmao  :beer  :good  :D  :break  :beat

Just playin' with ya KC.  I'd say it depends on the cost for the upgrade and what you're looking for performance wise and then just weigh it out from there.

KC, in your application you would see very little if any difference at all with the big valves, just make them efficient, put good valves in and do a good valve job and a clean up, blend all the sharp edges and polish the chambers. Save the money for other parts!.. :good

Allow me to translate, it's only going to run a few hours before it breaks, so why bother.   :rotflmao  :good  :beer  :jumpie

I'm going to drop the 049's at Larry's and have them ck'd out. See what's needed and go from there. Prolly looking at stock size SS valves. My springs and rockers are still in great shape do to the lack of running time on them :beat

Then I have the 781 that I trashed back in June but I think it might be salvageable with a guide replacement. If I can save it I'll have some heads for the Tahiti. :good

I'd like to spend some time smoothing out the ports, pockets, and chambers. Just a little bit, not really gasket matching just smooth things out a bit.
