Cool, sounds like you're going to have a good set of heads!. The pistons you have are not for a performance deal that's why they won't accept any lift!. The right piston will allow .700 lift at 0 deck with a steel shim gasket to keep the quench area tight which makes horsepower which is a key factor in making power with low compression!..

Hope those are good springs and that wasn't the reason for the valve tapping the piston!. If you had a broken ring in a fresh motor it was probably from the end gap being too tight or a ring land clearance issue or maybe you didn't have enough water going thru the block on initial fire and the rings got hot!..The rest could be from junk traveling thru from one cylinder to the other!..
