Currently have a 18.5 kachina 425 hp BBC, berkeley 12JG, w/ jetovater, was told I need rideplate for the droop would gain 3-5 mph, i would also probably gain 5mph w/place diverter control instead of the berk, the reverse gate has drag at the angle it is at.

I was worried that if I just ran a droop w/o ride plate, the handling characteristics would be bad with stock berk jetovater, I spoke with Bergeron marine in mesa, he says run a droop w/o rideplate and place diverter.

That's what I run on my boat and I have no problems. Bergeron set it up back in the day. Before the guy that I bought it from owned it. Back then it had a blown 396 in it and was running in the 90 mph range.
Everyone is a tough guy, until you meet one. Â

When it's all said and done the 1000.00 i'm gonna spend on parts (doing the work myself), is this thing gonna perform for the money? Kachinas are fast hulls anyway.

Well I can't speak from experience but a few years ago a neighbor had a Katchina and he did the same thing(he paid to get it done)he said he did gain but he was disapointed in how much he got for what he spent. I drove it after he did it and it seemed to work ok but I didn't drive it before so I had nothing to compare it to!.

Quote (jordanpaulk @ Feb. 02 2005,11:20 am) | Damn Art, you drove a squirt boat??? Â I'm going to have to write that down in my History of the World book. Â |
Jordy, back in the 80's I raced with the NJBA and back then it was 90% squirts and I had quite a few friends that had them and I drove a lot of them from 60mph ski boats to 110mph flexy flyers and I also ran some circles in a squirt and for some reason them things just never did a damn thing for me!. Wish I had a dollar for everytime I got harrassed to convert over the years!..
