:jumpie  :jumpie  I picked up my long block from my builder. I didn't have time to build it myself. After reading about  KC's tread I think it was a good idea. This is the most $$ I've spent on an engine.

costco carries those tool boxes about 600.00 top and bottom all roller bearing drawers. 3" locking casters :good  :good

The only other thing I've seen to check clearance bolt the head on with a lump of modeling clay in the chamber and rotate the engine . remove the head slice the clay and measure the thickness of what is left on the piston. A lot of work but a sure thing.

Claying the valves is one way to measure or get soft valve springs and a dial indicator.
I think after I take about 10 degrees of advanced cam timing out of my motor I'll be in a little better shape. I'm just pissed because of the lake and river trips I've missed because of my own stupidity. Probably saved enough in gas money that it pays for all the parts I've bought :rotflmao
