I heard there was performane shop in Riverside or San Bernidino that can make the ls 2000 run at about 70 mph has anyone ever heard of this place? After six years she is really starting to slow down and needs a little help.

Any info would be great.

Thanks.

Duke,
Group K out of Mojave is all I know about.  Lots of good tech stuff over at Yamaha Jetboaters as well.
You'll could spend $2k-$4k and not get that much more top end.. :eek   The LS/LX is a big, deep chine boat.  Even the 16' Exciter's can't get to 70mph..!!
There's a good rumor that Yamaha will come out with a LS/LX length 4-stroke model this year or next.  If you want to take a demo ride or talk tech this week-end, Yamaha is at Rotary Beach in LHC this Sat, starting at 9:00a.

Thanks for the info Shueman.
I met a guy at the boat show in San Diego. He told me his shop was somewhere up there by you. He was telling me he could get both motors to run the same rpms, do some work to the motors and get the yamahas to do 70 plus mph. I wonder if he was just blowing smoke.

If I hear of anything, I'll pm ya the info.

Most of the Yamaha "hot mods" are jet ski/wave runner mods, but they are pushing a lot less "glass".

Yamaha boats are pretty much 50mph watercraft, give or take a few.  If you do a Stage 1, carbs, impellers, air/fuel separator, you'll get better performance and a few mph.

You really have to go Stage 2-3 to get any significant top end speed.  The motor/pump combo is pretty much designed with the hull.  Significant engine/HP change will cause cavitation, which means custom pumps, impellers, intake change, etc.

I paid just $10k for my LS 3 years ago, and it's a pretty solid "turn-key" ride.  It'll do 50+ up the Gorge; good enough for me.. :good

Those are all good points :good.
Looks like its time for a different boat for me. I love the reliability of the yamaha but its just to slow. I can only get to 50 mph going down river with a tailwind these days.

Give a Stage 1 upgrade some consideration.  Might be suprised with the results and only adds value to the boat if you turn it over.  I'll probably do that upgrade next winter... :good and might add the Cobra Steering this year.
