I need to choose my cam for my new motor but If these exhaust manifolds have water injected near the heads I need to watch the duration of the cam.  But if not I can go nuts...

Can anyone tell me for sure???

Thank you :D

Fock it, buy a set of Lightnings... They're water jacketed... :D

Honestly, I think those are jacketed manifolds.  Those look factory, yes???

I dunno... They came with the boat...  I would like lightnings but I am a little broke after rebuilding a pump and building an engine... Gotta save some money for gas...

I was curious cuz there are three inlets.  So unless there are two that funnel into one I think they might be injected...  Maybe if they are I can convert them??

Im lost so I need help?? But what else in new :stupid

Are they under an engine cover??? The Coast Guard requires that any manifold in an enclosed space must be jacketed.

Is there a name cast into them anywhere???

Also, most manifolds I've seen run the water through them first to warm it before it's pumped into the engine.  So, the cold water comes in one side and out the other into the engine.  Then, finally some water is injected back into the exhaust as a sound muffling device.

That's why there are three fittings.

They are under a cover... And that makes sence. about the injection... Now the question is can the water be sucked back into the head or is it injected far enough from the heads to not matter...

Also I think there is CARR marine cast on them...

They are jacketed castings no water in the ports but if you're thinking big heads and cam, get lightnings or CMI's!.. It's only $$$$$$$$$$$!.. :D  :good

But I think that the hose that goes in the top injects water into the exhaust...  Because there is no water dump over the side of the boat.  Im worried that it might get sucked into the heads.  Or do you think that it is far enough away to be safe???

Im running a long duration on the cam...

Shouldn't be a problem, it's far enough away not like regular headers where the water is only about 5" from the head!.. :good

I have used a set of those and they work pretty good.  You can run as much cam with as little lobe seperation as you want.  Water should not be able to get sucked in to the heads.

Thanks all... you were right...  I got a little creative and started pouring water down the hoses and seeing where it poured out...

The bottom two hoses were a straight shot through to the engine...  that top one does inject water into the exhaust but there is a special part in the casting that shoots the water down the rubber hose as far away from the exhaust...

Now, I need to make sure that these things will clear my valve covers
