Got his motor back from his builder in PHX. Put it in Saturday. Broke the cam in Saturday night. Went to the lake on Sunday morning. Idled out of the No Wake and got about 5 minutes down the lake and blew it up :eek  :banghead Had good oil pressure and was running cool he says. It was a .100 over 454 with about a 570 lift cam. Boy I wouldn't want to be on the other end of the phone call he makes this morning :fight  :guns  :flamed

Is this your WOT buddy (That threw a valve after 30 hrs)???  Either way that really sucks... Especially after all of the work it takes to install a motor :(

Damn that sucks, another quality AZ shop :beat You know who it is??, maybe I know who they are!. :stupid

What happened, a cylinder let go? :stupid A .100 over is pushing it on a late stock factory block and if they didn't sonic check it first some of the cylinders could be really thin!.. :eek

Desert Cylinder Head and Machine I believe. Guys name is George. They did sonic ck the block. I'm thinking valve train had a failure. But it could be a piston/bore problem I guess :stupid He said he had plenty of oil pressure so that kinda eliminates the bottom end but a piston could have broke a wall  :eek

Why do you need a .100 over race motor in a family jet :rolleyes Save it for an 18ftr :comp

Well GFR you were right, a piston broke through the cylinder wall and then stuffed itself into the head.  :flamed So much for sonic testing the block that he said he did :beat

Those are expensive trips to the lake. I added up the amount of money I spent on my last boat and divided it by the number of trips I took with it and....  :stupid  :banghead

Yep that's what I figured, as soon as you mentioned .100 over and who did it I was 99 3/4% sure what happened!. :rolleyes  :laugh
