I just wanted to ask if you tried the acetone in the 2-stroke yet or if you are going to?? I thought about it but, my only concern is how the acetone and the 2-stroke oil are going to interact. :confused

I'm going to try it, definitely....did not go out this wknd though.... :rolleyes

Replaced the fuel filters and worked on the steering cable tolerances... it should not be a prob, as the fuel & oil mix at the carb... :good

I'm looking at the acetone helping to clean out the inside of the carbs, etc.  Anything will help to get the 29gph at WOT down a few.... :D

It can't hurt...acetone is a natural solvent anyway...I've used it as a spray for carb cleaning before....no residue, drys clean, etc.  :good

Went ahead and treated one outta two tanks in the boat with the acetone. I don't know if it had any effect but, I put it in the motorhome and I think it might have helped it out. I got about 8.5 mpg on the way to the lake which is an all time best. Thanks for the tip GFR!!  :good

You're welcome, glad it worked out for ya!. :good I'm surprised you gained mileage though, I tried it several times on two different vehicles, even tried different timing events and didn't gain any mileage, just cleaned the system and made it run a lot nicer!.. It did take about a 100 miles before I noticed anything so it may take a while in the boat, might not see a change right a way!.. :good

BTW, how much did you put in??. :stupid

I put in about 3oz to 10 gal and hedged on the light side. I think the reason I was getting better gas mileage was a comb of things. I tuned it up b4 we left and drove it under optimal conditions. However, I am sure it didn't hurt.

No Yami on Sunday...only the G-trons..
Nice morning boating; left before 11am.
Just too many boats, PWCs, etc.  going every which-way.

Here's the old barge with the new owners....

From all the articles I've read, 3oz to 10gals max anything more is a waste with no benefit, I have not tried more so I don't know for sure!.. :stupid

Yeah a tuneup always works huh, LOL.. Now that it's tuned up try it both ways and see what happens, all the articles claim better mileage but I havn't seen any difference and several others have tried it with the same results, just runs a lot nicer!. :stupid
