Quote (Carrera Elite @ Oct. 31 2005,1:27 pm) | How much of a project is it going to be?? Looks like some gel work and maybe a little int. work. Does it run?? I'll bet if you keep it. it'll become a V-Drive!! Â Â |
Not hardly, but it really wouldn't take much to get it going just time, it was a salvage deal but the hardware is all good and the hull is stuctually good!..

It's actually 17' but the deck isn't that long so there is quite a bit of room, yes they are the short stringers and it's a 3 point mounting deal!..

Quote (Carrera Elite @ Nov. 01 2005,7:06 am) | Why was it salvage?? |
It got swamped at the AVI last summer, the mexican didn't know which way to park it so it went down. A friend has a salvage business and he picked it up, when the owner came back he wouldn't pay the bill told him to keep it, so it sat for a year at his shop, now he's cleaning house, he has a couple of other boats he's sending down the road too!..

Quote (AZKC @ Nov. 01 2005,2:06 pm) | Pulling the pump is pretty simple, its when the motor and the pump have been out as a pair, getting things to line up can be a bit tricky on the re-install. Those side mounts are pretty corny arn't they. Some sort of rail kit would be a big improvement. |
Well I didn't pull the pump yet but I guess if both are taken out it could be a little more involved, I know just the motor is a snap!. Yeah those motor mounts got to be the crudest things I've seen, they must have been on crack when they thought that up! Heck I wouldn't even mess with a rail deal, just two pieces of 3/8" angle one on the motor and one on the stringer and trim it to look nice, a total no brainer!.. So are you interested in this thing??.

Quote (AZKC @ Nov. 01 2005,5:44 pm) | Somewhat, my  Hawaiian needs to be flipped and some bottom repair work done, it needs to be stripped down to the original gel to get some of the bigger stress cracks fixed and I'd like finish the job that Hawaiian started and never finished. Put the boat together right instead of slapping it together. So it would be a good tweener boat. But I also have the Tahiti but its quite the mess. |
Well if you don't mind the uglyness you wouldn't have to do anything with the hull it's good structually. The interior is original and is shit and missing the seat cushions but you could use it for a pattern, I figured two sheets of plywood for the whole thing and the wife said around $50-$60 for the fabric and stuff for plain stuff nothing fancy!. You could just put your motor in it and plumb it up and all the wiring is there!. If you want I can take some pics of it for ya!.. Yeah doing it right is the only way to do it, and it makes it easier when you have something else to play with in the meantime, that way you don't rush to get it done and screw it up!..

Quote (AZKC @ Nov. 01 2005,7:53 pm) | I was thinkin 2 glass buckets no carpet and a coat of the famous Mouzer flow coating, hows the floor and stringers? |
Well that will work, floor has the original carpeting from the way it looks, it has the shorty stringers and there is no stress cracks or delam even by the floor!. The carpeting is aged but a heavy duty shampooing would clean it up quite a bit, there is no grease or oil on it!.. For just a beater I wouldn't waste the money on the floor just clean it up!..
