Quote (Sleek-Jet @ Dec. 05 2005,7:03 am) | Nothing a little soap and water won't fix. Â Looks like a pretty solid old boat. Â
Is that a Hallcraft V-drive??? |
Yep cleaned up nice, I was surprised there's no cracks anywhere, it'll make a good cruiser!.. That is an ACE Champion v-drive, something like the C-500!..

hey get on the roof and take a picture of the spread. you have more "projects" than any man I know, I'd like to see how you store all of it  |
Yep that was a good find What projects only have the Raysoncraft, can't really call this one a project and the Nordic is gone!..

Quote (MrCord @ Dec. 05 2005,11:00 am) | Hey! Â Is this one going to be for sale??? Or is it just for you? Â Because if it is, I am thinking about defecting to the chopper side of the tracks! Â (And just pulling my engine)
No Mass Jet Boat... |
Very smart move I guess we're going to use it this coming year, don't know after that??.. All I'm doing is dumping a motor in it and swapping the Velvet-Drive for a TH400!.. if you're serious about a cruiser I'll keep an eye out for a good one for ya though!..
Actually my buddy's Eliminator is still for sale, that's even nicer than my Hallett!..

Quote (MrCord @ Dec. 05 2005,1:01 pm) | Thanks.. I saw the thread and I like the boat and the price... But I am really not to wild about the gel/paint. Â
I have that new motor that I needed all of the help with that I can was thinking about putting into a v-drive. Â Which brings me to the question. Â Do I need to swap the cam not or will I b ok? |
Well it is paint but that's no biggie to change that, and I'm sure he'd help ya to get it going with your motor, I'd think about it If I were you!..
As far as the cam goes it depends on what profile you have now, if it's for a jet then you would need to change it. A jet is like having a 4500-5000 stall converter in a car, it's free engine until the pump loads up and that's where you need the torque!. With a v-drive cruiser you'll run about the same rpm's but you need the torque from the start, otherwise it will be a dud on take off and really hard if you pull skiers, and you'll waste gas too!..

Quote (MrCord @ Dec. 06 2005,8:43 am) | I think I might be stuck on the engine though... Â Before we talked about changing the rpm band downward and came to the decesion that because the valves are huge, and the runners on the heads are huge, and the cam is huge .632 lift... Â I am pretty much stuck... Â
But I am still considering that boat...
Is the room in front of the driver's seat just storage or is there seating down there??? |
You're never stuck with cams, there's shit loads of them out there and there are custom cams also that will work, but that's the nice thing about a v-drive you can just change gears, in fact since he had a blown motor in it the gears are probably too high for your motor!.. If I remember right he GPS'd it at 123 once!..
The front that is a good question, I don't remember for sure but I think there's bunks under there but don't quote me on it You'd have to talk to him about that!. If your serious about it I'll PM you his number and you can talk to him about it!..

I guess now that I think about it, it would be "the old wood that creaks when you step on it" family. But I see that GFR is leaving the family and joining the "solid as a rock" wood family. Whatever
