:stupid   So I went through GFR's pics on his profile to get some ideas for a paint scheme and I came across this all white boat, it was a v-drive, but it had no cavitation plates. I like the way it looked but I don't want to go with out mine if it is going to make a big difference. What do you guys think? Do they make that big of a difference?

Roger, I'm guessing you're talking about the all white one with the blown motor right??. If you are that is not a flatbottom, it is a hydro(Hydroflite), take a close look at the side and you'll see the sponson, those Hydroflites were unique. Hydros don't use plates because they are worthless since the tail end is out of the water all the time, on a flat the plates are necessary to control the ride, without them the boat would be uncontrolable, so you definitely ned to keep them and if you don't have a pedal I would advise putting one in, makes life a lot easier driving the boat!.. :good

The plates, that use the pettle, are mechanical not hydrolic or motor drive. My uncles used a "T" handle.

Fixed plates are not the greatest but mechanical are not hydraulic, check mine out there is a bar across the back with an arm that hooks up to a rod that goes to the handle and pedal assembly!..
