Well,
I had my boat at the lake last week for a little tune and test....After running pretty hard, I was floating in and noticed that the water exit was blowing steam......
Here is the water pump set up:
Uh oh, likely culprit is the impeller in the water pump.
Got home and pulled the pump cover. Â Of 8 vanes, 3 were still attached and 2 fell on the floor.....Crap...3 in the pump or stuck in the lines.
After taking apart the whole thing I found 1...OK, time to get serious.
Hook up the garden hose and force feed the SOB....Finally, after about 5 minutes, I can feel and hear something rattling around!!!
There they are:
And the new impeller:
Having a race boat is cool, except when you have to pull one of the seats just to access the pump...
Total project time: 2 hours, 20 mins.
Total beers consumed: only 3 (it was hot)

LOL, same thing happened to mine at Red Rock last Sept the very first day, except all of mine came off!. I was lucky though, all mine stayed in the pump cavity. Guess you have to check em at least once every 10 years huh!
So, how did that badass Daytona run? Â Â
