Thinking about putting injection on your jet? How much of hp bump would you get out of that?

All depends on what's on it now, but the best part of injectors is the simplicity and reliability, not to mention throttle response, once set forget about them!..

please check this out.. And tell tell me what you think! Â
Injection
Can you tell me the pros and cons for injection? |
What are you looking to get into, mechanical or EFI??, either way you wouldn't be sorry!. But if you're not familiar at all on how mechanical works, and if you're not interested in learning about it(it is very simple)you might be better off to go EFI, but either way once setup you can forget about them unless there's a drastic change in weather or altitude!.. If you can get it cheap enough, this could be a good start for an EFI deal!..

No problem with mechanical just need to learn how to tune them, and they are very simple once you learn how it all works!..
To compare injectors to a carb is night and day, no comparison at all!.. Throttle response is like a light switch, also there's no floats so it don't matter what the conditions are they will always be crisp, no sloshing of fuel!.
Gas mileage is hard to tell a lot depends on driving habits, you can ad a jet selector so you can lean it a bit while cruising, I've never used one myself and I can cruise at 2500 all day long, but I'm sure it would help, I did gain some mileage over my tunnelram though, cruising and WOT!..

Well I ran injectors back in the day, and then had a brain fart and went back to carbs, I sure as hell won't do that again!. Â Not only that but the cool factor is worth it I think!.. Â

Quote (MrCord @ Mar. 14 2006,11:45 am) | Can you give me some tips on jetting the carb out?
I have been told that I am running very fat because i have black soot all over the transom of my boat and in the exhaust. Â I have heard of the spark plug test, but dont I have to run WOT and then stop... Check them and re-jet... Â
Somehow rejetting on the water sounds like a BAD-Freekin Idea! Â I can just picture dropping one in the motor |
You're running way fat, are you running stock jets now??? if you have powervalves you need to check and see if they're not blown out!. I always took the carbs off to rejet because I hate gas spilling all over the manifold, if you do it on the motor, don't hold the jets above the carb, LOL.. The most accurate way to check a plug is to make a WOT run and click it off at WOT, then take a reading. But that's when you're close, right now they're going to be black all the time!.. I think it's time to tear it down and check it all out!..

Quote (MrCord @ Mar. 14 2006,12:08 pm) | I am running stock jets on a
Mighty Demon 850 anular jet carb... Â 6.5 Power Valve, and I think the stock jets are: 80 primary and 88 secondary... Â
How far should I take it down??? Â Are Holley jets and BG jets the same??? |
If your carb matches your application, you shouldn't have to go more than two sizes either way, if you do there is either something wrong with the carb or you have the wrong one. Check to see if your powervalve is not ruptured, also check your vacuum at idle, you should have more than 6.5, if you don't have that much the powervalve will be open all the time causing a rich condition!.. Oh, and Holley jets do fit!..
