I HAVE A SCARAB WITH A  50 GALLON ALUMINUM BELLY FUEL TANK THAT IS LEAKING. IT SEEMS TO BE GLASSED IN OR FASTENED AT SOME POINT THAT I CANNOT SEE.HAS ANYONE HEARD OF CUTTING THE TOP OF THE TANK AND INSERTING A SMALLER TANK INSIDE?WELLCRAFT SAYS CUT THE DECK..GOT TO BE ANOTHER OPTION. :banghead

If it's glassed in you should be able to cut it out with a die grinder and a cutoff wheel and slide it out, it's a bitch to do it but it can be done. Better than trying to put a tank inside the old one!.. :banghead

Getting the tank out is the hard part. You should have no problem finding a competent welder to repair the alum tank. I would recommend taking the tank to a semi tanker repair shop like (Beal) to have the work done, they will do the job right and it will never leak in that same spot again. Good luck! :banghead
