Well I blued my Bassett over-the-transom headers last week.  Does anyone know who does jet hot coating in SoCal?  It sounds like that would be cheaper than replacing them and have some added benefits as well.

Doug,

http://www.rewarderheaders.com/coatings.htm

There is also a page with a price sheet.  Jim McComb is the owner and has always been fair to deal with...

They are in Camarillo...

Thanks for the info.  :)

What a small world.  I used to live in Old Towne at Sycamore and Cleveland.  It's in the Northeast quantrant, just east of Chapman University.  I lived there from '89 to '94.  It was great during Labor Day weekend every year, because I could just walk to the Street Fair. :D  I grew up in North Orange, though, near the Mall of Orange and I live there again.

Doug - I just gave mine to wilkes marine to get jet coated- he has a guy in Santa Ana - they do a aluminum ceramic combo.  Jim has had good luck with them and says they are reasonable.

Those blue headers were keeping me warm!

Cool! :cool  Tell me how they turned out when you get them back.  HBJet is having his done right now too.

Frank, I'm sure you're getting a price break since your giving Jim some business, but can you possibly find out how much I can get mine done for?

Thanks. :)

I lived on Pixley in the Southwest quadrant - the other side of the tracks, from 96 - 97.

Walking to the street fair was awesome!

OK, my ex-mother-in-law lived on the north side of Culver about 3 houses west of Pixley.  I drove down Pixley from Palmyra MANY times.

I lived on the cul-de-sac on Pixley and you could only get my house from Palmyra.

That's funny...I lived on the other side of Chapman until last summer.  Lemon and Palm.

And my buddy lived on Pixley just south of Chapman in those little duplexes.

Walking to the street fair was awesome....I think in 02, we had about 8 friends "sleep over" the entire weekend during the street fair.

My wife and I loved living in Old Town...It was cool to be able to walk such a short distance and get good meals.

In fact, I miss the Filling Station the most  (on Glassell).  The have a great breakfast and wonderful coffee.  The owner is named John and is a nice guy.  Prices are average.

Doug,

Since you are "local" and from Orange, I'd bet that you eat at the Orange Cafe...?

I've never been there.  :eek  I've lived in Orange for all of my 38 years though.  Usually when I make it down to the plaza, I'm going to the bar in the Elks Lodge.  That's the building that Orange Sporting Goods was a tenant on the first floor for so many years.  The Elks own the building and on the third floor, they have a cool bar that overlooks the plaza.  I'm not an Elk, but my Dad is.

Cool.  :cool  While you're there, could you find out how much it would cost for your "good friend"?  :laugh  There seems to be several places that will do it, but I would like it to be close enough for me to drop them off and pick them up myself.

What is that coating anyway?  I've heard of ceramic coating and aluminized.  Is that aluminum powder in the recipe?  Is that where the silver color comes from?  Are they all the same?

Cool.  :cool  I just hope mine are not too old to be done.  I have a little surface rust between the collectors but probably not more than most other peeps have.  Besides the blueing, they seem to be in pretty good shape.  There's no cracking around the weep holes, etc.

Shouldn't  be a problem at all unless you have holes rusted out!. They will strip it to clean bare metal, they should look like new when done!. :)
