What kind of treatment would work the best on plywood? A guy I work with is replacing the plywood deck and all the interior in a boat he just picked up. I have never used anything but linseed oil on outdoor wood projects. Don’t really know anything about the epoxy type treatment's available. Any help would be appreciated. :stupid

Will it take much abuse? There are some really cool urethane products out there.

Listen to me, getting excited about urethane.  :stupid I've got to get more fresh air during the day. :banghead

Would you suggest plywood, or another type of wood for a floor replacement? I have heard Balsa is a good choice. Any thoughts? I need to replace the floor in the Hallett, and would like to lay down a teak laminate like the new Hallett's have.

I am going to use roofing grade plywood because the glue it is made with is not water soluble then coat it completely with the west syst epoxy. I am no expert on this subject but I would think plywood would be much stronger than balsa. You could sand the plywood a little and it would take the laminate just fine. :good

The balsa used in boats is usually ContourKore from Baltek. They have some nice wood veneer panels if you really want it to look sharp.
http://www.baltek.com/products/decolite/decolite.html

Or if you simply want it strong, use an end cut balsa and the west system. Her's a good "how to" link:
http://westsystem.com/ewmag/19/Replacing_Core.html

Have fun! :D
