I've got lots of dings and scratches in my white gelcoat. No problems wetsanding them out and buffing back the gel; using Meguiars ONE compound.
What about a "cream" color or green...?? Can you just wetsand it the same way and buff it out...?? What to help the bro-in-law with some detailing on his boat.
Tnks...

Cream or green colored gelcoat can be wetsanded just like the white colored stuff!
Use plenty of clean water and progressively finer wet/dry paper before you use the Meguiar's. |
Thanks...I wasn't sure.... I started with 600, then 800, 1200.....comes out nice enough.. Do I need to go higher on the color....?? Â They are just small surface scratches from sand, wakeboards, and stuff....
Glenn, do you just use 1500 or work up to it...??

Thanks....G'man's the x-purt and likes 3M stuff alot....
I just got a lot of little dings, here and there, and started working 'em out....
The bro-in-law's '99 Glastron is pretty pristine...the kids are a bit abusive on it though.... He'll be glad to know we can wetsand the scratches, no problem....

Yep, 3M is good chit. Use it after the wet sanding....Depending on how bad the finish is, you may have to start with 400. Change paper often...600, 800, 1000...I'll go up to 2000. Switch away from the heavy stuff as soon as possible, the idea is to remove as little as possible
And be careful around high spots and edges. Go lightly.

I beg to differ here, if you use the right compound it works, like the 3M stuff(posted above)if you use a compound for paint it is not as agressive and it won't do the job on gel.
