When was the last time you had the water pickup impeller replaced or t-stat (if you have one in)?

Sounds like sticking T-stat, takes a lot of heat to pop it open the first time then it works until it sits again for a while, might want to run a test on the stove after it sits for a while!..

I would replace it too, but I'd still run a test on the old one, just to satisfy curiousity!.. Of course it would be my luck that it work pefect then!..

Your dump, from where ever the water exits the motor to the headers/logs, or what ever you are using, if there's a restriction somewhere it won't allow the water to flow, it's a process of elimination, start from the pickup and work your way to the outlet where it goes back to the lake, you'll find it somewhere along the route!..
BTW, what is your temp when the alarm goes off!..

That's a good guestion. Also add, is it only happening when running it hard or just after so many minutes at any speed?

I gotcha.   I will definitively  have to check that. As for the temp it gets to about 195 to 198 somewhere in there. And to answer Waterdogs question, It seems only to do it when I'm cruising. Once I get on plane and start running. It seems to only do it then. I have yet to encounter it when I'm just idling thru a no wake zone or just sitting there idling. Usually it seems I'll be doing anywhere between 35 mph to 55 mph.

Well from what you're saying here that eliminates the T-stat, you have a restriction in the flow somewhere and you need to find it, if it's on the outboard end it could cause excessive pressure in the motor, and that can end up with a milkshake and replacing gaskets!. Where you at?, you can't be too far from me, if you get stuck maybe you can drag it over and I'll take a look at it, should be able to find it!..

One of my buddies in Havi has the 28 Heat. He Wippleized it. What a differance. |
The Whipple is a very nice setup!..

Quote (lakebound @ Oct. 05 2007,8:12 am) | I appreciate all the helpfull advice from everyone.  This weekend is  pretty booked already with my sons birthday.  Hopefully I will get a chance to get to it next week. I will start looking for a blockage towards the dump part like GFR said. If not maybe we can hook up and see if you can find it. I will definitively bring the beer. |
Well, tell the young one Happy B-Day for us and hope he has a great one!... Just let me know if you can't find the problem, be glad to look at it!...
