Any one have any idea how to mount these tanks better? They are mounted with only one bolt per strap through the floor ( Hull ) and no glass to reinforce them. They fit in VERY tight, I got this project in pieces and just trying to put it back together again. But i want it done right
Any ideas

Welcome to HD... Yep, GFR's the man... I know that Eliminator uses thin foam padding against the hull and glasses them in...

Welcome to the boards!.. Firs off those tanks don't fit that boat and are way too far back, you should have side tanks. But there is a way you can mount them to work but your filler will not go thru the hull, and you don't mount them thru the floor, all that does is cause leaks from the boat flexing. You used to be able to get fiberglass pads that glassed to the floor and the tanks mounted to it with these brackets, but I haven't seen them in a long time, but you could make some out of would and glass them in with lag bolts from the bottom to bolt the tanks to!. But personally I would just sell those and get side tanks that fit under the gunnels, that would be the way to do it "right", but those can be mounted safely but won't look that good!..

Only thing I hate about that is, if for some reason you have to take them out to clean them, it's a bitch to get them out without ruining things, then you'd have to reglass them back in. The ones on my Raysoncraft has tabs on each end at the top and be bolted in, 3 bolts on each end and the tanks slide out!..

Well i just picked up a Big Boy Ford 460. Bought a new Eagle crank, Hbeams and TRW 060 dome pistons I want to get some of the boat done before i take everything to the machine shop. But everytime i try to work on it, something does not fit right
I have a couple leads on side tanks that i think will work and they will just trade me for my tanks ( i hope)
Thanks.

Well that'd be cool if you can trade the tanks, save some hassle there!.
Don't get nuts on the power with that boat, it is not a hand laid full stringer boat and they weren't made for power, they were a ski boat only, keep it that way and it should give you a lot of hours of trouble free fun!..
And make sure you measure that crank "real" close, they are mass produced and the machine work is out to lunch on those, not uncommon to send 2 or 3 of them back till you get a good one, that or just get it turned 10/10 and be done with it!...... Good luck on the project and keep us updated on the project!..

The tanks were the last straw for me. I did some figuring and come to the conclusion F it im done. My other boat just needs some stringers and my new build BBF 460 And im back on the water again

Wow, am I hearing this right You're abandoning the project because of a minor issue like the tanks, but yet you're going to replace stringers in the other boat If you think tanks are a problem, wait till you get into the stringers!..

I am not giving up just because the tanks dont fit. This has been an on going battle since day one It just seem's no longer feasible to continue a losing battle.
What i mean by that is. This is a bare hull My other boat is complete - engine and needs stringer work. this boat we just had new upholstery installed, new bimini top, carpet, and a new Energizer kit installed.
so lets weigh this out. The fantasy has nothing Bare hull. So its not like im boatless now, we also have an outboard in the backyard
So im cutting my losses which arent anything right now and letting the project go to another home so someone else can bring it back to life and i will concentrate on my original problem child like i should have to begin with

Well, bare hulls are easy to work on, but with that many boats I guess you don't need another one!.. How much you selling it for?..

I put it in the classifieds for $200 hull & trailer
And im selling the saddle tanks seperate. This will help fund my stringer work.
Having five kids makes it a little hard to have too many projects.
