Dear BoatUS Member:

We need your help!

Strong pro-ethanol advocates are pushing the Obama Administration and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to increase ethanol levels in gasoline to 15% (E15). As you may have read in BoatUS Magazine, ethanol at the currently allowed 10% (E10) level has been shown to cause significant problems for some marine engines and boat fuel systems. To read more click here.

Higher levels of ethanol have not been tested in marine engine systems, and in fact may void marine engine warranties. BoatUS is part of a broad coalition of over 50 consumer, industry, and environmental organizations working to insure that science is part of the federal decision.

Specifically, we are asking that EPA deny the waiver requested by ethanol producers to increase the allowable ethanol level to 15% until unbiased testing demonstrates that higher blends would pose no threats to gasoline engines, public health, the environment, and consumers.

CLICK HERE to send comments (due before May 21) directly to EPA. It doesn’t have to take more than one minute. If you have a little more time and can customize your letter, it will make your message even stronger.

Please share this email with your boating family, friends, and groups. We need as many letters as possible.

When I went for service they said because of the blend I should install a stainless steel micron fuel filter as not to let the fine fibers clog my injectors :stupid

What fibers? Running with gas or any blend, you shouldn't have any fibers. Not from the fuel anyway. Filters are for contaminates. News from some real research should be hitting the boards in about a week. Certainly worth keeping an eye on, even one clogged injector could cost a motor. :banghead

What fibers, you got fiberglass tanks??????,  :eek There's no fibers in gas, but regardless you can't have too good of filter especially with injectors, and you have to watch the micron rating when you buy a filter, the larger the rating the larger the junk that will pass through, don't hurt to have two filters either!.. :good
