I thought that you might like to follow this project that I have got myself into. I am going to restore this 1965 Magnum on my spare time. I was at Art house looking for a trailer for the Hallett that I have and was going to restore but, we came across a trailer with this magnum on it that they were scraping out and if I wanted the trailer I had to take the boat. The magnum is in better shape than the Hallet so I am going to restore this one instead.

Well I have almost everything gutted except for the steering column and the cavitation plate hardware. The steering column is rusted in the bearing at the kick board and I am to big to get behind the kick board to hold the nut and turn the bolt at the same time.

I had some stainless bolt twist off and the nuts pull out of the glass. Some one had put some kind of epoxies to hold the bolts from coming out and it wasn't lock tight. Looked like JB Weld.

Injected is nice, But I'd rather be BlownÂ

Rod, it's not to hold the bolts the shaftlog was imbedded in Epoxy for a flat surface which is the proper way of doing it, same as the strut, but when you tighten it down the stuff will work it's way around the bolts and also seals the bolts, no sealer needed!.. You will be doing that when you put it back together!..

I finally Got it off the trailer and on the stands that Gary gave me. Thank You Gary!! :jumpie

I was kinda of scary as I used a cherry picker and a floor jack. That wasn't the scary part it was when I had it up off the trailer and the wind was rocking it pretty good. It all most came off the jack :eek

Ok now that I have everything off and on the stands.

I started stripping the glass off the floor and found some not so good news. Parts of the floor are bad like expected. I was curious about the stringers and worked on the right side and found root gut on the bottom side of the stringers :banghead
