We just figured out that we might be able to go to the river or Havasu for labor day (w/o kids). My wife wanted to stay at the Blue Water which is sold out. Is it too late? What's up with AVI (where is it and what is it)? She wants to stay in a place that has stuff to do - bar, gambling, band or whatever. We have only been to Parker/Havasu once. The trip is for our anniversary.

Thats going to be a tough one. You might try the Best Western in Parker, its a short drive to the Bluewater. and you might be able to get a slip at the casino and just hang there till you are ready to crash. Havi is going to be slammed and expensive if you can find a room.  Avi is up river quite a bit and you have to watch the river levels or you'll wack your wacker on a rock.

The Avi is very nice, but the water levels are sketchy.  You will not be able to launch until noon at the earliest. The "lagoon" which is a small bay they have there didn't get deeper than 4 feet until about 2 or 3 pm. When we stayed there last weekend, we took the 20 minute drive to Park Moabi and had a great day going to the sandbar for a rendevous. Then we had the casino/restaurant and bar for the evening.  They also have a babysitting service there if you need it called "kids quest." The buffet is awesome and they have a movie theater. We saw the Dukes of Hazzard there.

If we drive up from Parker to Havasu on Sat. (Labor Day weekend), How early are we going to have to get there to be able to get the boat in and what ramp would be the best (Cattail)? I heard you have to get there early to get on during the big weekends.

I would get to Cat-Tail by 9a, just to be safe.  I believe there is also a free launch near Havasu Springs as well....just a longer run up to Thompson Bay...

I have only been to Havasu once and I didn't know where I was at. What's up with Thompson Bay?

Maybe I'll see you there we will probably spend a lot of time by the Blue Water unless I get better info.

yeah stop on by for a beer if you like, I'll have my maroon super-duty parked on the side of the house. I'm one mile up river from blue water casino on the AZ side. Also will have my Coors Light neon sign on at night. Can't miss that!  :beer

I looked for your place today. We are planning to go to Havasu tmw. Where were you compared to Badenochs?

from badenoches I would be down river on the AZ side (about one mile). Pretty much right across the river from the trailer park on the CA side that has the two big water tanks. I will be back out there this weekend.  :good
