Going to Havasu on the 27th. It's been alot of years since I've been there. Want to go up to Topok and Moabi to check them out. I'ver heard it can get shallow up there. Some people say stay to right some say stay to left. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :confused  :good

The water has been running pretty high lately; have not seen any reports of problems... :cool

There will be plenty of big boats out that week-end as well for the Poker Run.
I say the "middle" and follow someone else.... :good  "Trim It High and Let It Fly".... :jumpie

Stay Left... Stay Right....   Guess it depends on which way you're going.

I was running from Needles to Havasu over easter weekend. Plenty deep to run, and plenty of shallows if you're not carefull.

I'm too busy to grab a pic, but if you use GOOGLE EARTH and look at the area from Sandbar to Havasu, you can actually see which side of the river to stay deep on.

The water seems to flow pretty much according to the chart JetSet hooked me up with.....low flow around noon and then starts to build until it reaches it's peak around midnight.

I had absolutely no problems last week between Needles and the Sandbar.....but then again, I don't need very much water.
Stay to your right a bit going upriver just past the Sandbar. I saw 3' on the depth-O-meter a couple of times through there. :good

ok... sounding stupid as usuall, but i've been in the ocean for 7 years.... so.
when its shallow, its still gonna stand out (lighter color water as usual) right...??? The deeper water should be darker...
i draft over 3' sitting still, but running trimmed up wide open, i dont want to rip the twins off...!!!

I heard that sometimes there are patches of white sand so it may look shallow but you still got about 8 to 12 ft of depth. :good

The depth diff between 2' to 4or5' may not be so noticable. Some area's this is what you got.

Watch for weeds also to indicate the shallow areas.

My boats got a pretty deep V, about 3.5 of draft.  When going to the sand bar or topock, I stay on the California side and try to keep it as much centered in the waterways as possible and watch oncoming boaters.  I have got stuck on the Arizona side before in a smaller boat plus you have to stay closer to the Arizona end rather than keeping in the middle.

My depth finder usually reads around 3-4 feet when going through that split.  However when I go faster than 50mph then my depth finder doesn't work at fast speeds.

Stay California side "Trim up and Throttle Down"  :D

ok, I went thru topock several times last week, from moabi and then back from london bridge,.
lots of boats were stuck in sand.
we were guided out,
going north stay to the right of the marshy island about 20 feet off shore, and you will be fine.
north end of havasu you will see in the middle that marshy island.
every boat got stuck, even those that bragged they would not.
a local came out and guided us thru, for a beer, carry plenty of beer
I live near bullhead and most of my boating is on mojave, but, am starting to like havasu.
so, this is real info, which will save your day.
