Channel 11 in LA is in Havi looking for the party. Reporting attendence is way down. No numbers, put says the beaches are deserted, and the channel was, is empty. He speculated that maybe it was because of LEO's cracking down. Didn't say a word about fuel or travel costs. Either way this doesn't sound good for Havasu.

I love the place when it's empty. I'd hate for the city to turn into a bunch of vacant building though.

Yea, attendance at the Raiders game sucked last Sunday too.

Didn't they miss by a week or two? UofA was out last week and I think ASU was out the week before.

But I would be surprised if that's not a BIG part.

If crowds are in fact down, I would guess it's the overall US economy, not LEO crack downs. I don't think the law has been bad enough to drive the crowds away.
Gas and the houseing market has driven down boat sales all across the US.

Not to long ago somebody posted up all the totals of all business in Havi. Boating and boat related income was a vast majority. Never been bothered or seen LEO hassel anybody that didn't truly ask for it. Where as a day on the water can be pretty expensive.

it seems that we got a lecture, but no citation, or even a full inspection. So I can't really complain about that. I think that LEO are pretty patient, and understanding, all in all.

And off the water the only time I've been pulled over I left 300' of rubber down by the movie theater.....I really did deserve a ticket, but I didn't get one. So I don't really know what people are complaining about. Just a local's opinion.

Yeah, I deserved it! I was showin my 'Corvette' friend how slow and gutless the big diesel really is! To say the least, he was alittle surprised.... :eek

What I find funny is that every ticket I've gotten in 24 years of driving (like doing 65 mph on a 55 mph highway, which is now a 70 mph limit) is legal. Then when I really deserve a ticket they let me off. Havasu Rocks! :good

LEO's say for every ticket you get you deserve like 20. Good thing you take a boat to work. Rubber for 300' and no ticket, that could be a record.

I really believe that the reason that I got off was that they didn't actually see it. I was coming out of Mudsharks, and when we hit Swanson I nailed it and turned left towards Rotary Park. That's with my chip in the stock possition, not much happened. Then when we got to Smoketree I flipped the ole switch to 'stun', brake-reved alittle boost, and slid sideways halfway to the highway. The cops were northbound in the left turn lane, and had their lights on by the time I got to the intersection. I turned south like nothin had happened. They pulled me over by the Aquatic center and sat me on the curb while they read me the riot act for about 10 minutes......it was pretty imbarassing, but no harm, no foul. That was the end of my burn-out days, and a good set of Goodyear Wranglers (FYI, they didn't last worth a sh!t). But then again, I did tatoo all my friends streets/driveways/cul-de-sacs! :flamed

If they didn't see it, they can't write you. So they knew you were guilty and just vented on you. I won't even say how many times that has happened to me. When I see you at the river remind me to tell you about a Toyota grass story.

As a rule I spend Sun in the channel without the boat. Mon & Tues float my boat. Clean it up and put it away Wed AM.
