Lake Havasu State Park, Windsor Beach, became a place to remember and honor all those who served in the Vietnam War, especially those who never returned. Opening ceremonies were held Wednesday for the American Veterans Traveling Tribute, a replica of the Vietnam Veteran's War Memorial in Washington, D.C. An estimated more than 700 people attended the event that featured a blessing of the Wall, a "Missing Man Table" ceremony, and the placing of two wreaths by the Blue Star Mothers. Speakers included Lake Havasu City Mayor Mark Nexsen, AVTT Representative Steve Doty, Director of Veterans Affairs Joey Strickland, out of Phoenix; and Lake Havasu City Councilman Brian Wedemeyer. The replica Wall, which spans more than 370 feet and stands over 8 feet tall at its apex, will be on display at Windsor 4 through Sunday. An evening ceremony at the Wall will be held each night at 6:30 p.m., featuring candlelight vigil with the reading of the names of those from Arizona. Windsor 4 is accessible by turning off London Bridge Road at the Best Value Inn.
