Looks like we'll be out on the 4th of July weekend.   :eek

I'm not crazy about doing holiday weekends at the river, but it works out for the kids.

Is there any marina from Needles down to parker dam where I might try to reserve a slip for the weekend? To mimimize ramp visits? Or is that a silly question?

:rotflmao Your joking right. Better be launching before sunrise to even hope to get a spot on a beach. If your not in line by 6 or 7 you might not be lauching at all. There's always site Six. Any idea where your staying yet. :stupid Kind of important.

Moabi docks are probably already booked.
Topock has a ton of brand new ones but I don't know if the rent them.
Marina is first come first served and only the boats owner can get one, boat registration required.
Nautical and LBR, you need one of there rooms too.
Sandpoint has a few hundred not ever used. Don't know if I'm even want one.
Havasu Springs might rent them, I doubt it.

yeah, yeah.... I know.   :cry

We got a place in Bullhead, so where to stay is not a problem. Launching early is not even much of a problem, but getting in line to retrieve..... that's a problem.

I called Needles marina, but they don't reserve slips. I'll try calling some others.

Thanks WD

Brand new Prirates Cove has slips that you can reserve, $30 per night includes launching fee.
Havasu Landing $21 a night but no more reservation. Got to reserve in person. For a 12 pack, I could probably get a buddy to run over there for you.
I'll get more later. :peace

I still think your nuts. Just so you know, for retrieval's in Havi, avg waits were 2-4 hours waiting. Site Six was upwards of six hours to get off. .

Ended up calling and getting a spot at Pirates Cove. But they say it does not include launch fee.??
They have a seven lane ramp, so shouldn't be too bad???

I useally launch up at Jack Smith(?) south of needles marina. They only have four lanes.

Thanks again WD

I think she (Davey) just might have been wrong. Prirates Cove Marina is outside the BLB property. The ramps are on BLM park Moabi side. They don't let anybody in for free. I'll see about getting passes next week. :beer

The Wife and I will be there for that weekend and beyond. It's the "beyond " part that's the best.  :good

We enjoy a private marina...and I will be in my usual place. Sand chair with an adult beverage in hand, watching from a safe distance.  :beer  :beer

We'll be there. Got a slip resv'd at Pirates Cove and should be on the water the 3rd and 4th.
Possibly for a little while on the 5th also before leaving.

I saw T-storms in the forecast. Hope we don't catch them. Got a new wake-board for the kids.   :good

I think my time will be full this weekend, taking the daughter and her friends. Need to be ready at a moments notice for whatever they like to do.

And a wonderfull time was had by all at the river once again.   :jumpie

Arrived afternoon of July 2nd, dropped the boat into the new Pirates Cove marina. Nice slips.

Fri July 3rd, headed down to our favorite cove in Havasu. Saw maybe 3 dead fishys all day. Did pass a small spot of smelly smelly fishy stench at the top of the lake, but that was it.
Great day of wakeboarding. Only issue was the 85F water temp which was not very refreshing. But in 106F heat...??

Back up to Topock where the water was quite a bit cooler and made for a much more refreshing dip.

Back into Pirates Cove. I was surprised how popular this place is. Like putt'n through London Bridge.

Sat July 4th headed up river from Moabi / Priates Cove. Another great day of boarding, tubeing, and lunch on the boat. Much better water temp and clarity.

Back to the marina for many games of 'Catch the Football and Pass it Back'. A bow with 3 teenaged girls gets lots of attention.

For fireworks show, parked above Bullhead City airport to watch the show down on the river. Very nice.

About 11pm my son and I went and picked up the boat. Moabi's launch ramp is very nice. It was still over 100F, but better gett'n and wipe'n down the boat in a lit empty parking lot rather than under the blaze'n sun.   :good

A lot less crowdes than I was expecting. And didn't even hit any heavy traffic comeing home Sunday.

:peace

There were plenty of boats for sure, but nowhere near what I would expect for a holiday weekend.

When heading down to the lake from Topock, there were plenty heading up river. I was getting worried that it was due to the dead fish condition in the lake.
When we got into the main part of the lake (maybe 11am??)  still north of London Bridge and the Island, I would have sworn it was mid-week. Barely saw any other boats zipn around. Maybe everyone was shored?

When we got onto the west side of the island (I believe this is site 6 area?), I'd say it was mildly crowded. Nothing like last year.

Then the next day (the 4th), we decided to go upriver from moabi. I was worried we wouldn't be able to get much boarding in due to too much traffic. But between 9am and 3pm, we only had to wait on several boats going by maybe 3 times all day.
The rest of the time, there were maybe 1 or 2, or no boats to worry about.

Heading home, we weren't alone on the hwy, but pulling the boat, no problem doing 70 the whole way. Other than a few miles doing about 30 just west of Barstow.

Because we slipped the boat for the weekend, don't know how the ramps were.

OK, there was one time we were hit by the crowds. At CHILI's, we got there right behind a party of 27 and couldn't get a table in the main seating. We ended up eating in the bar and watching that awesome NASCAR finish.

What's that saying.... we were watching a massive auto pile-up and it turned out to be a race ?!?

Pic I saw of Moabi didn't have parking for even just one more boat with 40-50 looking for a space. Water thru the gorge was discribed like a washing machine. Shueman just called from Havi, said it's guessamated at about 130 boats per hour went thru. Did here the channel was less than normal cause everybody went to Moabi. Holiday crowd doesn't go around the island, launch and park in the channel for the day is what they call boating. Lots of small jets couldn't make it to Moabi, big water, and a lot of props don't even try to go above Moabi anymore. Rocks gardens. Heading North on Sat was ingenius. :good You went and got lucky on the 40 too, all lanes were closed for a while do to accident.
BTW, everybody likes pic's. :good

Shots are of the Moabi channel, Upriver from Moabi, and a few Fireworks over BHC.

We're across the river and on the other side of the 95 from the AVI. We can see their fireworks from our house (barely).

We decided to watch the Bullhead fireworks this year.

Last few days I've been looking into trying to find some snowbirds to rent the house during the winter. We've tried offering to rent weekends to some friends and co-workers, but not many takers. If I can get someone to rent it for 2~3 months at a time in the winter, this will help us have money to fix it up more. It's a new house, but still needs landscapeing in the back.
