If this helps, which I doubt it will because I've been pretty unhelpful as of late, here it is..
I own a 3/4 ton Yukon XL 4wd. I haven't had any problems with mine yet, as of 2 1/2 years except for the tranny going out once.
I have quite a few friends with the 97-99 2500 4WD either lifted or not and the only problem with them is that for some the trannies keep falling apart. besides that though, no problems.
Hope this helps.

Quote (LowRiver @ Aug. 19 2003,12:15 am) | 01" GMC 3/4ton HD crew cab with the 6.0 and 26k miles. Â Other than 13mpg (which is better than the 11mpg my 98" Chevy dually got), it's been great, no problems. Â If you get a 6.0 gas, check out Westers.com for their chip, it's getting some great press at pickuptrucks.com for 1mpg minimum improvement and for REAL added performance. |
When I had my 86 Chevy dually, I put an overdrive in it and with a little bit of tuning I got 15mpg running 75-80 with it. Now I have a 73 and I plan on the same thing but I'll probably be able to squeeze a little better mileage yet!..

What the hell, sorry to leave ya hangin there GFR. Better late than never Nope no dually, F350 crewcab single rears. I four wheel some and an old timer said one time that a dually can get stuck on a cow pie  Cool on the street not so in the mud/snow.

Not to worry KC Those are good trucks, a friend had one of those, ran the shit out of it on and off road, never missed a beat. On the other hand since I'm not into off roading or cow pie's, mud or snow! I don't have to worry about those issues!. but for towing and comfort, can't beat a dually . The old timer is right, duallys ain't worth shit off road, even with 4 wheel drive!..
