Well, with over 75,000 miles on the '01 quad cab (mostly river miles), it's replacement will be coming home in the next day or so. We bought another Dodge, and I've been running through my mind what mods I want to make to it. It's Inferno Red Pearl (damn close match to the roadster's color) with the hemi, 20" chrome fact alloys, tow package, etc. I'm looking to put different wheels on it, and have been going over different ones for days. I'm into street rods, so I want the look to reflect that. Not jacked up, and to be honest, I really don't like big wheels (like 20's), but I only have a couple options. Find a wheel I like in a 20, use the existing tires, and hope they don't really LOOK like 20's, or get 17's with new tires. If I go with 20's here's a wheel that would give me the look I want (but without the fake knockoffs).
Since I'm shutting down Roostwear on the 31st and starting another venture in vintage rod parts, the truck needs to have that vintage rod look. I'm also toying with the idea of ghost flames on it. I've been checking out lowering kits to give a little better stance.... 2" front, and 3 1/2" rear. Just enough to take the factory truck look off it. This is just a start and nothing's cast in stone, just thought I'd ask what ideas you guys have, and what wheels you've found that I may have overlooked. Other ideas are welcome, so let me know what you think.

Going down to a 17 saves about $350 per wheel. Here's another I could run in a 17.

Yes, 17's are standard. The 20's are optional.

Got it home last night and had to start playing with the look. This first shot is with the stock 20's
This is a photochop with the rounded window Dragster wheel and lowered about 2"
Lowered 2 inches with the more square windowed Legacy wheel.
I know, bad chop job, but I wanted to get an idea what it would look like with each wheel. Opinions?

As much fun as a Hemi powered Veg-o-matic sounds, I'm not up to cutting this ride just yet. I've been wanting to see just how close the color is to the roadster, so I pulled the roadster out to see. Of course the wife says I can't drive it until I can use both arms, so it's just back and forth in the driveway for another onth or two. There's a minor difference in length and ride height, but after it's dropped it won't be quite as bad. Took it to the bodyshop this morning to get an idea what will be done to flame the truck. We'll be color matching the cowl cover, door handles and mirror deltas, removing all the emblems, then shooting the ghost flames in a bright silver pearl. The flames will come off the grill and headlights with the licks ending mid front door. Nothing real obvious or obnoxious, just enough to get a second look. Should make a decent tow vehicle for the roadster.
