In rememberance of our lost friends, this board will use an alternate skin on Sunday, September 28, 2003. That is the day of the services for the Herbert's. The standard skin will return the following day.

Your not the only one. Seems like just yesterday I was responding to a thread from Dos about how young your kids were when they first started driving boats etc, and how proud he was. Scares the holy hell out of me that my 16 year old drives mine, and others on her own now. I totally trust her, but its hard letting go. My thoughts are on this daily, its such a tragic loss and happened so quickly. Goes to show us all life is too short and we should enjoy the ones we love every minute we get with them.

Traci the only thing you can do is make sure they have safety training, understand that showin off for their friends ain't always cool, and no drinkin and drivin. That right there covers a huge amount of the risk factor. Beyond that just like everything else in life it's just out of anyone's hands, except perhaps Gods.

I too have had this accident on my mind many many hours. It is so very tragic and sad.

Mike, I've done my best and hopefully I've taught her a responsibility she'll remember when she's out with her friends and will be safe. I even posted a thread on HotBoat awhile back about some friends of hers that were driving a "Blown Nova" to school at 16 and how I disagreed with it and didnt want her in it at all. The kid wrecked it several months later, and the result was tragic. Hopefully they learn from others mistakes. I keep a tight reign on her on big weekends as its the other drivers I worry about more I think right now.

We can only hope and pray....:):):)

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback.

This is sort of a way that we can remember our lost friends as a group as well as raise the awareness level for any lurkers. I did not go to the services today, but my heart and mind were there. :peace

I,also, didn't mention the skin on hotboat because I didn't want anyone to think I was spamming this site because of this tragedy. I wanted to pay my respects, though, and I thought this was fitting. From what I gather, you mostly feel the same way. :peace
