Thought I start a TECH thread...what ya runnin', new toys, fixin and replacin, etc.
Right now i'm replacing this old Toshiba Satellite laptop. Â It hangs out on the kitchen bar for all to share.
It's served us well for 7 years but is just "tired" and can't keep up any longer (like the body ). Â Screen streaking, audio dead, CD quit some years ago, etc.
I'll re-purpose the drive for external storage with one of these $7 NexStar dealios...
Got lots of choices: Dell 6420 w/HDMI HP Ultralight Dell 5500 used Older Toshiba w/Win 8 Beta No Mac - tried but don't get it
Tablets: Got a few collecting dust...don't get them either...
iPad 1 & 2 - games for the kiddies (Zynga for me) Toshiba Thrive - HDMI movie playback on TV Kindle Fire - reader
Whatca got / watcha like...

Well, I got 3 older PC's(got rid of 2)2 new laptops(only because I got the one stolen back)2 older ones. My newest is my clear case project that I built a while back, since then I added another video card(SLI), been beating on it for a while now and it still kicks a$$ haven't over clocked it yet though. Now that the warranty is up on most of this junk it's just about time to tear it all down and do some serious cable management and sleeving..

Nah on the DJ...the kid's been recording "beats"...thinks he's got an insight as to what's gonna be the "next thing"...
He was using Cubase/PC at the start, moved to GarageBand on the iPad, and now is lovin' Pro Logic on his (new) MacBook...
The audio quality / digital effects are amazing... I keep asking him to create some background noise for my boating videos...nutin yet...

Sounds like some cool stuff there, I know one of the DJ's at Bluewater and he was showing me the Program he uses "Traktor Pro" it's badass but it is pricey.

Spent most of the week-end looking for info on student handheld technology.... Testing goes on-line next year.
Looks like the only long-term solution is iPads... or let 'em use thier smartphones.

Think I'll jump on one to give it a trial run. Â Just had a split drive fail on the garage server...
At least, all my porn will be in one place...
UPDATE: After researching more...maybe not (heat issues)...

Careful man, can't be losing no porn..
Well, I jumped on the same thing only the 1T, no negatives on it and nothing mentioned about heat only complaint was the USB cord being too short but that's no biggie for me so we'll see..

Might do that as well...
This powered $45 StarTech device looks good as well. Holds 2 Sata drives (either size), hotswap, eSATA, 3.0/2.0, etc.
A def workbench solution...
